Meet Franklin Quartet’s cellist, Rebecca Humphrey Diederich:
Cellist and gambist Rebecca Humphrey Diederich lives and works in the Philadelphia area where she is an active freelancer, performing with many US early music ensembles. A Bach continuo specialist, she has frequently played with Washington Bach Consort, Handel Choir of Baltimore, Cantate Chamber Singers (Bethesda), Ensemble REBEL (NYC) and Choral Arts Philadelphia, to name a few. She has been principal cellist with Tempesta di Mare (Philadelphia), Lyra Baroque Orchestra (St. Paul), Kammerensemble Luzern, Capriccio Basel and CityMusik (Chicago). Rebecca is founding member of many local chamber groups including Franklin Quartet, Kleine Kammermusik, Night Music, aMuse, Galline, and Minneapolis’ Belladonna Baroque Quartet. Rebecca graduated from Oberlin Conservatory and continued her studies at University of Minnesota. She has coached at Madison Early Music workshop, and was a faculty member at Curtis Institute where she taught baroque cello.
